So you've scheduled your engagement photos, picked a location, and now it's time to think about what to wear. Seems like a simple task but I'm sure as you've started to figure out... it's not. I'm sure you've browsed some stores, some Pinterest boards, or social media but a lot of times you leave just feeling overwhelmed by options. And sometimes, those options don't even seem good enough for such a special occasion. But no need to stress - let's figure this out together. When it comes to choosing the perfect engagement outfits for YOU, here are 4 important things to consider!

1. Selecting Colors + Patterns

I always recommend neutral, soft, tones when it comes to selecting colors. Whites, creams, blacks, and pastel colors all allow for the focus to be on you as a couple. Bright + bold colors tend to detract the viewers focus and make the eye go to your outfits rather than your beautiful faces. Neutrals give an extremely classic + timeless feel that you can't go wrong with. When it comes to patterns - stick to solid tones. Busy patterns can create a busy noise in your photos that can be avoided by simply choosing a solid color. Overall, the simpler the better when it comes to colors and patterns to ensure dreamy and timeless images!!

2. Coordinating Vs. Matching

This is where it can get tricky. You might have two outfits picked out but figuring out how to make them mesh can be overwhelming! When it comes to coordinating outfits between you and your other half, avoid getting too matchy. Pick colors and outfits that compliment each other and are within the same color palette rather than selecting outfits that are the exact same. Not sure if the outfits you chose are in the same color palette? Shoot me an email and I can send you some examples of color palettes that photograph beautifully!

3. Change It Up

All of my complimentary engagement sessions include two outfits. This gives you an opportunity to add variety to your album as well as takes pressure off of the idea that you need 'one perfect outfit'. My recommendation to all of my couples is to choose one outfit that is more formal and another that is more casual. This gives you the ability to show off multiple styles all in one session. Don't be afraid to get really dressy - it's not every day that you get to take engagement photos!!

4. Make Sure You're Comfortable

At the end of the day, this is the most important piece of the puzzle! Your photos will reflect how confident and comfortable you feel so make sure whatever you choose, makes you feel like the best version of you! Insecure about a certain area of your body? Find a piece that compliments another area! Not comfortable walking in 1o inch heels? Choose something else! My goal is to make every engagement session a fun and enjoyable experience and you feeling your best will ensure that! The best outfit makes you feel good.
